Modules & Plugins

MirandaPlace’s complete installation package includes frontend modules and supporting plugins.

Modules display content or shopping tools in website positions. Plugins provide services such as payment processing, shipping calculations, PDF generation, and Joomla integration.

Installing an extension does not necessarily complete its configuration or make it visible on the frontend.

Included Frontend Modules

MirandaPlace includes four site modules:

Module

Purpose

MirandaPlace Cart

Displays the customer’s current shopping-cart information.

MirandaPlace Categories

Displays selected categories and category navigation.

MirandaPlace Products

Displays a configurable selection of products or structured content.

MirandaPlace Manufacturers

Displays manufacturers or brands and links to their filtered Shop results.

Cart
Use the Cart module to provide convenient access to the current shopping cart.

The module reflects the shopping session. It does not independently enable purchasing for Catalog or Content categories.

Categories
Use the Categories module to display selected categories.

Its settings include category selection, inclusion of subcategories, ordering, item limits, and presentation options.

The module can also limit results to categories containing eligible items.

Products
Use the Products module to display a selection based on the available source modes, including featured, new, random, most-viewed, and best-selling items where applicable.

Configure the category selection, item count, and display options for the intended placement.

Results depend on eligible content and the selected source. A best-selling selection, for example, requires relevant sales data.

Manufacturers
Use the Manufacturers module to present published manufacturers in a grid or carousel.

Selecting a manufacturer opens the Shop page filtered by that manufacturer.

See Manufacturers for the related records and associations.

Publishing & Positioning Modules

Manage the modules through Joomla’s Site Modules administration.

To display a module:

  1. Open or create an instance of the required module type.
  2. Enter its title.
  3. Configure its content and display options.
  4. Select a position supported by the active template.
  5. Set the publication status.
  6. Configure menu assignment, access level, and language.
  7. Save and check the frontend.

Multiple Instances
You can create several instances of the same module type.

For example, one Products module might display featured products on the home page while another displays recent items in a different section.

Each instance has its own configuration and assignment.

Template Positions
The selected position must exist and be rendered by the active Joomla template.

A published module assigned to an unused position will not appear.

Product Layout Builder
The Product Layout Builder can also reference site modules through its Modules palette.

Those references use existing module instances. Configure the module itself through Joomla’s module administration.

Module Styling
Module presentation can depend on its own settings, the Joomla template, and applicable MirandaPlace styles.

Check each placement at desktop and mobile widths.

Payment & Shipping Plugins

The package includes three payment plugins:

  • PayPal Standard;
  • PayPal Checkout;
  • Stripe Checkout.

These provide the corresponding online payment integrations.

Configure credentials, environments, and supported notification settings in the relevant MirandaPlace payment method.

An enabled plugin alone does not make a payment method ready for customer use.

Shipping Plugins

The package also includes:

Plugin

Purpose

Advanced Rules

Calculates shipping from locally configured rules.

GLS

Provides the GLS shipping profile with locally configured rates.

UPS

Provides manual-rate and API-quotation functionality.

Configure these through the corresponding shipping methods.

GLS & UPS Validation
The carrier integrations have not yet been tested with active GLS or UPS accounts.

GLS pricing uses local configuration rather than live carrier quotations. UPS API quotations require validation with the merchant’s account before customer use.

The order workflow does not automatically book shipments, generate carrier labels, or synchronize tracking.

See Payments & Shipping for configuration and operational boundaries.

Plugin Availability
Disabling a payment or shipping plugin can affect methods that depend on it, including operations associated with existing orders.

Review those dependencies before changing its status.

Document, Account & Privacy Plugins

The package includes five additional service plugins.

Plugin

Purpose

PDF — Dompdf

Provides PDF document rendering through Dompdf.

Privacy — MirandaPlace

Connects MirandaPlace data handling to Joomla privacy requests.

User — MirandaPlace Login Redirect

Provides the applicable Customer Area fallback after login.

User — MirandaPlace User Delete

Handles MirandaPlace-related processing after a Joomla user is deleted.

Task — MirandaPlace Payments

Provides the scheduled payment-reconciliation task.

PDF Generation
The Dompdf plugin supplies a PDF-rendering service.

Invoice issuance, credit-note processing, and private document storage remain managed by MirandaPlace.

See Invoices & Credit Notes for document behaviour.

Login Redirect
The login-redirect plugin provides a Customer Area destination for eligible customers when the login flow has no explicit destination.

An explicit return URL or configured login destination takes precedence.

The plugin does not create a customer purchase or grant access to another account’s records.

Privacy & User Deletion
These plugins connect Joomla’s privacy and user-management operations to MirandaPlace’s customer-data handling.

They are not general-purpose tools for deleting the complete order archive.

Use the corresponding Joomla workflows for privacy requests and account administration.

Scheduled Tasks & Maintenance Checks

Payment Reconciliation Task
The task plugin makes a payment-reconciliation task available through Joomla’s Scheduled Tasks.

Create and enable a task instance, select its execution schedule, and configure the available parameters.

These include:

  • the maximum number of attempts processed per run;
  • the minimum age of pending attempts considered for reconciliation.

Enabling the plugin does not itself create an active schedule.

Joomla’s task execution must also be configured and running.

Purpose of Reconciliation
Reconciliation checks eligible pending payment attempts with the provider.

It complements the payment-notification flow. It does not initiate a new purchase or replace the required webhook configuration.

Managing Plugins
Open Joomla’s Plugins administration to locate the installed MirandaPlace plugins and review their status.

Service plugins do not require a template position or menu assignment.

Their related component settings, provider credentials, or scheduled tasks may still require configuration.

Updates
Use the complete MirandaPlace update package to keep the component and its bundled extensions aligned.

Module and plugin version numbers can differ from the component version because they are versioned separately.

Final Check
After installation or an update, verify that:

  • the four module types are available;
  • published module instances appear on their assigned pages;
  • required payment, shipping, and document plugins are enabled;
  • provider settings remain available;
  • the scheduled reconciliation task is configured where required;
  • Customer Area login behaviour works as intended;
  • representative document downloads and frontend module displays still work.
