MirandaPlace Docs
Customers & Customer Groups
The Customers section brings together customer information, billing and shipping addresses, commercial classification, and order history.
Customer Groups let you define shared commercial conditions, including discounts and permitted payment or shipping methods.
To access these sections, go to:
Components → MirandaPlace → Sales → Customers
Components → MirandaPlace → Sales → Customer Groups
Available actions depend on your administration permissions.
The customer list provides access to MirandaPlace customer profiles and their associated account information.
Use the search field to find customers by name or email address.
The status filter lets you switch between active customer records and anonymized records.
Customer Details
Open a customer to review:
- customer identity and contact information;
- the associated Joomla user, when present;
- customer type;
- assigned customer group;
- billing and shipping addresses;
- order history.
The order list includes order number, status, total, and creation date. Select an order to open its details.
Registered Customers & Guests
Registered customers have a MirandaPlace profile associated with a Joomla user account.
Guest purchases can also have customer records and order information without an associated Joomla account.
The absence of a linked Joomla user therefore does not necessarily indicate a problem.
Profile Information & Order Records
The customer profile displays the available billing and shipping information.
Individual orders retain the address information recorded for those purchases. Updating a customer’s current profile does not replace historical order addresses.
Three separate concepts are used to manage customers:
Concept | Purpose |
|---|---|
Joomla user account | Login identity, account access, and Joomla permissions. |
Customer type | Private or Business identity. |
Customer group | Commercial conditions assigned in MirandaPlace. |
Joomla Account Management
When a customer has a linked Joomla account, use Open Joomla user to access that account in Joomla’s User Manager.
Account activation, blocking, unblocking, and deletion are managed through Joomla.
The MirandaPlace customer detail page focuses on customer information, order history, and commercial classification.
Private & Business Customers
The customer type is selected when the account is created:
- Private — an individual customer.
- Business — a business customer.
This choice cannot subsequently be changed through the customer area or the MirandaPlace administration interface.
Assigning a customer group does not change the customer type.
For example, a Business customer can belong to a Trade Customers group, but the group itself does not establish the customer’s business identity.
Customer Groups & Joomla User Groups
MirandaPlace Customer Groups define commercial conditions.
They do not grant Joomla administration permissions or replace Joomla user groups and access levels.
Create a customer group when several customers should share the same commercial conditions.
Examples include Trade Customers, Resellers, or Loyalty Customers.
Each group provides the following settings:
- Title — the group’s descriptive name.
- Alias — its unique internal identifier.
- Discount type and value — the applicable commercial discount.
- Payment methods — permitted payment methods.
- Shipping methods — permitted shipping methods.
- Status — Published or Unpublished.
- Ordering — the group’s administration ordering value.
Save the group before assigning it to customers.
Assigning a Group
To assign a group:
- Open the customer’s detail page.
- Locate Customer classification.
- Select the required Customer group.
- Select Save classification.
A customer can have one assigned customer group.
Select None to remove the assignment.
Group-based checkout conditions apply to registered customers with an eligible MirandaPlace profile. Guest checkout does not receive these conditions.
Existing Orders
Changing a customer’s group affects subsequent checkout calculations.
It does not recalculate existing orders or replace their recorded discounts.
Discount Types
A group can use one of three discount settings:
Type | Behaviour |
|---|---|
None | No customer-group discount. |
Percentage | A percentage reduction calculated against the product subtotal. |
Fixed amount | A fixed reduction expressed in the store currency. |
Enter the corresponding percentage or amount in Discount value.
The customer-group discount is applied through the cart and checkout calculation. It does not rewrite the prices saved in product records.
Combining a Group Discount with a Coupon
A customer-group discount can be combined with an eligible coupon.
Both discounts are calculated separately against the same original product subtotal, before these two discounts.
For example, a 10% group discount and a 5% coupon on a product subtotal of €100 produce reductions of €10 and €5 respectively.
The coupon is not calculated on the subtotal remaining after the group discount.
The group discount and coupon remain identifiable as separate reductions in the purchase summary.
Payment Methods
Select the payment methods that members of the group may use.
Leave the selection empty to impose no additional customer-group restriction.
Selecting a method does not override its publication status or other checkout eligibility rules.
Shipping Methods
Select the shipping methods available to members of the group.
Leave the selection empty to impose no additional customer-group restriction.
The selected methods must still satisfy the order’s applicable shipping conditions.
A group selection does not make an otherwise unavailable shipping method eligible.
Published Groups
A published group can apply its configured discount and method restrictions to eligible customers.
It is also available for new assignments.
Unpublished Groups
Unpublishing a group suspends its commercial conditions.
The group remains assigned to existing customers, but:
- its discount is not applied;
- its payment-method restrictions are ignored;
- its shipping-method restrictions are ignored;
- it cannot be newly assigned to another customer.
An existing assignment can remain visible in the customer detail, identified as suspended.
Publishing the group again makes its conditions available to the customers who still belong to it.
Deleting a Group
Deleting a customer group removes the group and clears its assignments from customer profiles.
The customers themselves and their order records are preserved.
Use unpublishing when you want to suspend a group while retaining its existing assignments.
Checking the Configuration
After configuring and assigning a group, review checkout using an eligible registered customer account.
Confirm that:
- the expected group discount appears;
- any coupon is shown separately;
- the intended payment methods are available;
- the intended shipping methods are available for the selected address and order.
This verifies the group’s conditions together with the other rules that apply at checkout.
