MirandaPlace Docs
Manufacturers
Manufacturers lets you maintain manufacturer or brand records and associate them with products.
These associations help organize the catalog and support manufacturer-based browsing on the frontend.
To access manufacturer management, go to:
Components → MirandaPlace → Catalog → Manufacturers
Manufacturer categories are managed through:
Components → MirandaPlace → Catalog → Manufacturer Categories
Create a manufacturer and complete the relevant fields:
Field | Purpose |
|---|---|
Title | The manufacturer or brand name. |
Alias | The record’s identifying alias. |
Category | An optional manufacturer-category assignment. |
Logo | The manufacturer’s identifying image. |
Website | The manufacturer’s website address. |
Description | Additional information about the manufacturer. |
Status | Published or Unpublished. |
Use a recognizable title and logo to help visitors identify the brand.
Alias
MirandaPlace generates a unique alias when necessary.
If the requested alias conflicts with another record, the saved alias may be adjusted. Check the resulting value after saving.
Logo
Upload the logo through the manufacturer editing form.
Uploading a replacement changes the image associated with that manufacturer. Use the removal control when the existing logo is no longer needed.
Manufacturer logos are managed separately from product photographs and galleries.
Website & Description
These fields store additional manufacturer information.
Their appearance depends on the frontend presentation being used. Entering a website does not automatically make every manufacturer logo link to that external address.
Manufacturer categories organize manufacturers into related groups.
They are separate from product categories.
For example, product categories might organize items as Shoes, Bags, and Accessories, while manufacturer categories organize the brands themselves.
Category Fields
A manufacturer category provides:
- title;
- alias;
- parent category;
- description;
- publication status.
Hierarchy
Select a parent to place a manufacturer category beneath another category.
Select the root option to create a top-level category.
Assigning Manufacturers
Open a manufacturer and select its category.
A manufacturer has one manufacturer-category assignment.
This classification does not change the categories of its associated products or determine their operating modes.
Assigning a Manufacturer
Open a product and select its manufacturer in the applicable product settings.
A product has one manufacturer association.
Several products can reference the same manufacturer, including products belonging to different product categories.
Changing the association does not change the product’s price, stock, or category.
Shop Filtering
The Shop page can provide a manufacturer filter when its filter interface is enabled and manufacturer options are available.
Selecting a manufacturer narrows the displayed product results.
Use Appearance → Shop Layout to configure the Shop’s filtering interface.
Manufacturers Module
The dedicated MirandaPlace Manufacturers module displays published manufacturers on the frontend.
Its presentation options include:
- grid or carousel;
- manufacturer-name visibility;
- the number of displayed items;
- displaying only manufacturers with eligible published products.
Publish and assign the module through Joomla’s Site Modules administration.
Module Links
Selecting a manufacturer in the module opens the Shop page filtered by that manufacturer.
The standard module does not use the manufacturer’s Website field as the destination for its logo.
See Modules & Plugins for module publication and assignment.
Publishing Manufacturers
Publish a manufacturer when it should be available in the relevant frontend listings and module output.
Actual visibility also depends on the module or page configuration and the eligible products associated with it.
Unpublishing Manufacturers
Unpublishing retains the manufacturer record and its product associations while excluding it from presentations that require published manufacturers.
It does not unpublish the associated products.
Deleting Manufacturers
Deleting a manufacturer clears its association from the affected products.
The products remain stored and can be assigned to another manufacturer.
Use unpublishing when you want to retain the record and its existing associations.
Checking the Configuration
Verify the complete setup with a representative manufacturer:
- save its title and logo;
- assign a manufacturer category where useful;
- associate one or more products;
- check manufacturer filtering on the Shop page;
- publish the Manufacturers module in the intended position;
- confirm that its logo opens the expected filtered results;
- check the module at desktop and mobile widths.
